Choose the return trip before buying the activity. A venue can be reachable by public transport and still be an awkward choice for your starting point, children or finishing time.
Start with one district and one main attraction. Look at door-to-door travel, including walks, transfers and the last service you are comfortable using.
Three districts to investigate
| Area | Activities to compare | Check in the journey planner |
|---|---|---|
| Southport and Broadwater Parklands | Public parklands or a booked GC Aqua Park visit | The stop and walk for your exact destination in the precinct |
| Central Surfers Paradise | INFINITY, Timezone, Holey Moley or SkyPoint | The venue entrance, nearest useful stop and return service |
| HOTA precinct | A gallery visit or a specific programme | Available services, the last walk and whether the event finishes late |
These are geographic starting points, not verified itineraries from your accommodation. Operator pages provide arrival information for GC Aqua Park, SkyPoint and HOTA.
Plan backwards from arrival
- Enter the venue's actual entrance or address as your destination.
- Select the date and the time you need to arrive, including check-in.
- Compare the whole journey, including transfers and walking.
- Open the return journey separately using your likely finishing time.
- Check service notices again before leaving.
Use the official Translink journey planner. A map's distance alone does not tell you whether the walk works with a pram, wet clothing, a tired child or particular access needs.
Fares and payment
Translink currently publishes flat 50-cent fares on its network, with Airtrain excluded. Conditions, child arrangements and transfer rules still need checking. Commercial transfers and other services are not automatically included. Official fare information
For contactless payment, Translink says each customer needs their own card or device and must use the same one to tap on and off. Check the available ticketing option for each member of your group before heading to the stop. SEQ ticketing guidance
Make the packing manageable
One small bag per person can be easier than several loose items. For a water outing, bring a way to contain wet clothing and check luggage or storage options with the venue. Pack drinking water and any essentials needed during a delayed trip.
If your group needs step-free access, a manageable walking distance or particular assistance, verify the route and the venue separately. A nearby stop is not proof that the whole journey meets those needs.
Keep a fallback
Avoid scheduling an activity so close to your final return option that a delay leaves no margin. Keep the official booking confirmation, an agreed meeting point and a backup way home. Price that fallback if it could materially change the day's budget.
